2016 Emmy Awards nominees for Animation Category
Nominations for the 68th EMMY awards have already been announced, and the winners will be announced on September 18th, 2016, at a ceremony held in Los Angeles. Seven shows that were nominated in 2015 have been nominated again for 2016, with a new entry, 'Phineas and Ferb Last Day of Summer', along with last year's entries: Archer, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, and South Park. Cartoon Network is dominating the other category, in which it has four nominees: Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Robot Chicken, and Steven Universe. SpongeBob SquarePants is the sole competitor that is not part of Cartoon Network; it is part of Nickelodeon.
There are a few random animation-related nominees that came up in non-animation categories, like Honda’s “Paper” commercial (directed by PES) in the commercial category; the ABC TV special,' It’s Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown!' in the children’s program category; and the Walt Disney installment of PBS’s American Experience in the writing for a nonfiction program category.
