Pride of K C Sivasankaran Artist of Indian comic book Chandamama and Ambulimama
The last of the living artists of the comic book CHANDAMAMA, Shri KC SIVASANKAR, breathed his last on 29th September 2020 in Chennai. He was 97. Karatholuvu Chandrasekaran Sivasankaran (otherwise called KC Sivasankaran, Artist Sankar) (19 July 1924 – 29 September 2020) was an Indian craftsman who principally contributed to the Indian-language magazine Chandamama (otherwise called Ambulimama). Sankar was the craftsman behind the trademark painting of the Vikram and Vetala arrangement included in Chandamama. He was the last enduring individual from the first Chandamama configuration group. The notable artistic creation, alongside his trademark signature by which he was recognised, was created in the 1960s. Sankaran studied at Muthialpet High School, where the drawing instructor discovered his innate ability.

Sankar created enthusiasm towards dexterity from his youth. On his set of experience tests, he would make representations of acclaimed recorded characters. Notwithstanding, his family couldn't manage the cost of the expenses of his leisure activity, thus Sankar would help his drawing educator fix other understudies' drawings at the ends of the week in return with the expectation of complementary drawing materials. His magazine came to all over, being distributed in 13 Indian dialects. While Sivasankar made a few delineations for the magazine including stories from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, it was for his work in the Vikram and Vetala books that got him tremendous approval. The picture of Vikram holding a blade in one hand and conveying a carcass on his shoulder is something each energetic reader of the Chandamama magazine from the '90s unmistakably recollects.
