Contemporary Collotype Printing and Photography Contest - Entries Due by June 30
Photography Contest : Collotype photographic printing is an ancient technique that is quite popular in the small city of Kyoto, Japan. Benrido Atelier is a leading collotype printing artisan in Japan. The Hariban Award is an international collotype photography printing contest organized by the Benrido Atelier Foundation. The 2018 Hariban Award contest is open to all emerging and professional photographers around the world. Only photographers who work in black-and-white formats are allowed to participate in this contest. The entry fee is 4000 yen ($36). The winners will have a chance to visit Kyoto, Japan, and experience the work of artists who use the 150-year-old technique of collotype photographic printing in the era of digital photography. The deadline for submitting black-and-white photographs is June 30th.
Prize:
Two weeks of paid trip at the Benrido Atelier in Kyoto, Japan to print their winning photographs in collotype.
In collaboration with the Benrido printers, the selected artist will produce a portfolio of eight museum-quality collotype prints of their winning photographs. All finalists will receive a printed catalogue with accompanying text by the competition’s esteemed jurors.
The winning artist entries will be exhibited in a solo exhibition during the spring of April 2019.
